What Are You Waiting For?

"Now there were four men with leprosy[c] sitting at the entrance of the city gates. “Why should we sit here waiting to die?” They asked each other. We will starve if we stay here, but with the famine in the city, we will starve if we go back there. So, we might as well go out and surrender to the Aramean army. If they let us live, so much the better. But if they kill us, we would have died anyway."2 Kings 7:3-4

Are you in a situation or have you been toying with an idea that you have not acted upon? Has God spoken to you concerning a situation or idea and you have yet to follow through, act upon or just be obedient? Allow me to encourage you!

As our scripture references the four lepers, I will refer to them as the Four Wise Men. These four men were already doomed because having leprosy during that time, you were pretty much exiled. So, they really had nothing to lose. Modern-day leprosy could be - a dead-end job, relationship, credit woes, or depression over the past.

They asked each other “Why should we sit here waiting to die?”Like them, we need to ask ourselves the same question. What situation or circumstance are you dying in. The job where there are no opportunities; the relationship that is going nowhere; that financial situation, these are just a few but you fill in the blank with the things that are dead in your life. Now ask yourself "Why should I sit here and die?"

As our scripture tells us the Four Wise Men did a status check. They looked at their current situation. We have leprosy, we are exiled from our people and we pretty much are the walking dead, so what do we have to lose either way it goes we are going to die. So, the Four Wise Men went in.

The scripture says "When the lepers arrived at the edge of the camp, they went into one tent after another, eating and drinking wine; and they carried off silver and gold and clothing and hid it. Finally, they said to each other, “This is not right. This is a day of good news, and we aren’t sharing it with anyone! If we wait until morning, some calamity will certainly fall upon us. Come on, let’s go back and tell the people at the palace.”

You read it correctly they hit the jackpot! Now because they took a chance and acted in faith, their destiny was forever changed. Again, if God has told you to do a thing, whether the Word came directly to you or you feel it deep down in your pinky toe - Do It! If you've allowed yourself to remain in a situation for too long and it’s dead, don't just sit there and die. Do something!! Your faith and obedience will not only bless you but those connected to you. Do not be the hindrance to another blessing or breakthrough!

We come to various crossroads in life, some good and some bad. Never forget when there is an unrest, that is destiny’s way of calling you to something greater. We have all been in situations that were not producing any fruit and remained. I have one question, "What are YOU waiting for?".

God thank you for stirring the spirit of faith in me to do the impossible. We please you not with our calculation of what we have or our abilities but faith alone and willingness to obey. Thank you for the silent whispers in my spirit that only you and I know about. I choose to be a faith walker, walking out of everything that is dead, into everything you have predestined for me. Remind me of those that are waiting on me. Remind me this walk is not just about me. I will live and not die. In Jesus the Christ name we decree Amen!
