The Promise of the Resurrection

This is a special time of the year. From Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, and now Passover are very sacred times. It should be a time of self-reflection concerning our salvation. There is a different spirit in the earth, it’s not just because we see the flowers blooming, trees budding but there is a sense of something greater. It feels sacred.
This season brings a renewing of faith and spiritual refreshing. Jesus death and resurrection is empowering alone to those that believe. We are told in 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" It is time to remember we are new creatures.
Romans 6:5-6: "For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin."
There is death to self that we experience daily, some days better than others. For example when your flesh wants to respond one way but because you know better you turn the other cheek. Crucifying the flesh doesn’t feel good but we have to keep the end of this journey in mind and why we do what we do. We operate in a time where people care more about their feelings than those of others but ultimately this Christian walk has nothing to do with feelings but obedience to God. Think about it, Jesus could have gotten into his feelings because he was truly innocent and free of sin, but if he would have taken this approach. We all would be hell-bound but the blood of Jesus Christ gave us an option.
Be encouraged, refreshed, and renewed this Resurrection Sunday! Get your mind and spirit right. 1 Peter 1:3 says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."
Prayer:
God thank you for sending Jesus to die in my place for my sin. Thank you for his resurrection and the hope it brings into my life as a new creature. Thank you for sending Holy Spirit to comfort, lead and guide me into all truth. Reset my mind and renew my heart. Help me to crucify this flesh daily that I will be obedient unto your word, liken to Jesus. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen.
