Shattering the Freeze Frames in Life

What comes to mind when you hear freeze frame? I heard this word in my spirit last week and almost blew it off but I decided to dig a little deeper. After some digging, ok I googled it, I discovered freeze frame means two things; technical terminology and also a rock band.

According to online dictionaries, a freeze frame is when a single frame of content shows repeatedly on the screen—"freezing" the action. A freeze-frame is a technique where motion in a film is suddenly halted to make it look like a photograph. The still shot is normally used to add emphasis to a scene or simply to create suspense.

As soon as I saw the definition I knew Holy Spirit had a message for his people. What event(s) have occurred in your life and frozen in the reels of your life. No matter how the reel of life has rolled on from scene to scene it seems there are moments in time the freeze-frame technique is/was used. Some of these moments are sweet memories, others are the moments we wish never happened or the ones we wish we could get a do-over. It is time to shatter the frames! This is what I am hearing the Lord say.

The still shots of the moments in life can be the weights in our spirit and mind hindering us from moving forward. Has God not spoken to you regarding these frozen pictures in the time-lapse of your life? I think he has, but we might have missed it. Are you “over” still shot pictures popping up at the most random times in your life taking you back down memory lane? If yes, keep reading. If not, keep reading for curiosity purposes.

In order to smash the frozen pictures in the reel of life, we need to grab some tools. Yes, tools! You can’t find these tools in Lowes or Home Depot, but I know you probably have several around your house or on your phone.

The Apostle Paul handed us a Philippians 3:13 hammer to shatter the frozen pictures in our life reel. He said “I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however, I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.” The Romans 8:28 hammer says “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Yes, the Word of God is full of freeze frame destroying hammers, why not use them? Both of the hammers used not only destroys the pictures but it gives a promise concerning your future. Read the scriptures again, there is a prize, all things will work together and there is the purpose when these tools are properly handled and used.

God has always given us options even when it comes to choosing him as Lord. Think about it, salvation is your life or the promised life. Live in the past or go after what is in your future. Take God at his word or believe in yourself. Trust your feelings or trust in a loving God whom you can depend on.

The choice is yours.

Prayer of Focus:

Father, thank you for equipping me with the tools to destroy every freeze frame picture that is stuck in the reel of my life. Thank you for my Spiritual toolbox. Give me knowledge, wisdom, and strength to follow the instructions given. Today, I choose the promise of my future and leaving the past in the past. We ask these things in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
