He Has To Do It

Growing up and maturing is not an option, even though it might seem like we are surrounded by Peter Pans and Pinocchios. Peter Pans are those that have no desire to be an adult and only live in a world based on their own ideas and expectations. Pinocchio’s are those that desire to be a real adult but are selfish, will lie, and suffer from misconceptions about the real world. Then there are the rest of the human adults who are living daily and weaving through life.

However there is a call and a mandate to maturity and according to the word of God, “when I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; (but) when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways.1 Cor 13:11 “Adulting” is for the mature, not the Peter Pans and Pinocchios.

Maturity is a requirement to walk in godly purpose in the earth and to “adult”. There is more to being an adult than paying bills and working. Have you ever considered your maturity level in the things of God? There has to be a level of spiritual maturity when it comes to understanding. Life is not always a fair fight but if you are a believer, the fight is a fixed one and you already have the victory. There are seasons where things can become uncomfortable but it can grow us or destroy us. We do have a say in the matter, to speak like a child or like an adult. A childish adult liken to a child doesn’t like to be uncomfortable.

The uncomfortable seasons are liken to trees being cut and pruned the Bible speaks of it. “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” John 15:2 NIV https://john.bible/john-15-2 . I believe when God does the cutting it is the childish or expired truths we hold on to or feel too comfortable with. The things he prunes are the areas we know we need more growth and maturity. So no longer reject the pruning. Don’t be complacent and move contently in a certain state of mind.

The beautiful trees, shrubbery and rose bushes have to be pruned in the right season in order to bear fruit and flowers in the next season. The branches that have to be cut off will no longer hinder the hidden potential. Take heart in knowing that anything the Lord cuts off is for your good. Anything he prunes it’s only a temporary delay for a better and more prosperous harvest.

Prayer

God I do not like this feeling of things being cut out, pruned and removed from my life. What you cut was causing a death and what you are pruning now has permission to bring forth increase. I trust you are the Master Gardener of my life and I will bloom in season. In the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.
